Tourist Information Centres
As part of Visit Britain, Enjoy England is responsible for promoting the rich diversity of England's attractions to its visitors - whether local or otherwise. Vitally important to the aims and objectives of Enjoy England is the work of Tourist Information Centres.
Using their unique perspective and local knowledge, a Tourist Information Centre (TIC) offers the tourist or visitor essential practical information and advice about a particular town, city, or area with regard to how to get there, how to get around, where to stay, and what to see and do.
There are currently 560 TICs operating throughout England, all independently run and staffed by local people, ready to deal with a whole range of enquiries.
TICs act as a primary information point for:
• Accommodation
• Attractions
• Eating and drinking
• Entertainment
• Maps and guides
• Shopping
• Transport
So whether you're planning a summer holiday or a weekend away, a two-night business trip or a family day out, Tourist Information Centres all serve a common purpose - to assist in planning your trip and to help you get the most from your destination.
In order to give you a flavour of why TICs are so good at providing that special local insight, each month we'll interview an employee from a different TIC from around England. We'll discover what's so special about where they live and work, the tastiest places to eat, the best places to stay, and what they love most about it. Use the links below for some great TIC recommendations!
