Party the night away

Nightlife

The English are renowned for their love of a night out, and with so many towns and cities offering such excellent nightlife, there’s something for everyone to enjoy – whether it be pub, bar, restaurant or nightclub!

We shine the spotlight on some of the country’s best party places to enjoy a great night out.

World class partying!

Newcastle-Gateshead was recently included in a list of the world's top ten party cities - so it's no surprise it has a booming late-night scene. There are popular mainstream clubs on the Quayside (www.newcastlequayside.co.uk) and in the city centre.

Many of them are huge - such as Legends and Klub Ikon - and cover different music in each room. Newcastle-Gateshead's Quayside has Julie's 2, Sea, Baja Beach and the iconic 'Boat' - the Tuxedo Princess, a nightclub on a ship, complete with 70s room and revolving dance floor!

Newcastle's gay scene revolves around the south west corner of the city. The wild and friendly Rockshots is a popular club, while Camp David is a cool 60s retro bar that attracts mixed crowds.

Live it up in style

Middlesbrough also has a good cross section of clubs and music. Stylish Club M at Tall Trees in Yarm attracts clubbers from across the north, and is regularly featured in the national music press. In the town centre, the Venue and the Arena play top dance music and the Chicago Rock Café has live bands.

In nearby Stockton, the Millennium nightlcub on Teesside Park has a keen following. Sunderland has two scenes - students and locals. Indie and alternative music is featured at Ku Cluband you can find mainstream dance at Pzazz. Manor Quay is always popular for live bands, as is Liberty's.

Variety is the spice

From a lively night out with your friends to a more relaxing evening in a stylish restaurant or bar, the lively and happening city of Birmingham has something for everyone. You can also catch the party vibe at neighboring Wolverhampton, Coventry and Stoke-on-Trent.

Bustling Birmingham

Birmingham has something for everyone. It is home to some of the trendiest restaurants, bars and clubs in the Heart of England region. It also offers plenty of choice for clubbers and music lovers.

Live music continues to thrive with a wide range of clubs and venues across the city centre featuring everything from rock and pop to classical and world music at venues such as Symphony Hall, the NEC (www.necgroup.co.uk/). For an alternative type of club, The Glee Club (www.glee.co.uk/), the Midlands' premier comedy venue, offers an abundance of entertainment and a side-splitting night of fun.

Go cosmopolitan

Birmingham's café bar scene has never been healthier, offering sophistication and inspired menus. The city offers an expansive choice of eateries and late bars such as The Living Room and Zinc on Broad Street.

The Water's Edge in Brindley Place (www.brindleyplace.com/) has spectacular views over the canal, while Waxy O’Connor's provides a lively Irish theme bar atmosphere.

Dance the night away

The Heart of England is home to Coventry, Stoke-on-Trent and The Black Country – all of which are well known for an excellent and lively night scene. The Waterfront at Merry Hill, West Midlands offers a continental feeling in its cafes, bars and nightclubs.

As a major university town, Wolverhampton boasts over nine outstanding night-clubs, attracting top name DJs to play sets. The Cultural Quarter in the Heart of Stoke-on-Trent also has numerous bars and nightclubs which cater for various age groups where you can dance the night away.
