Bradford

National Museum of Photography, Film and Television

Once the powerhouse of the industrial revolution and textile capital of the world, Bradford has moved on to become a vibrant and cosmopolitan city, known not only for the number and quality of its curry houses, but also for the wealth of attractions in and around the city. From the impressive National Museum of Photography, Film and Television, complete with IMAX cinema, to the Bradford Industrial Museum; there is something to interest everyone.

The city has some great festivals, in particular the Bradford Festival in July, which includes one of the largest Melas in Europe. To appreciate the architecture of the city, take a stroll through Little Germany, the wool merchants' quarter or visit the Old Wool Exchange, now a mecca for café culture.

Nearby is Saltaire World Heritage Site, a perfectly preserved example of a Victorian model village, while the 1853 Gallery in Salts Mill houses the works of one of Bradford’s most famous sons, the artist David Hockney. Bradford is easily accessible by motorway and rail links, and Leeds/Bradford International airport is only 11 miles away.
